| The process that the tea leaves go through to produce a good cup of green tea is very lengthy. First, the leaves must be steamed to destroy the enzymes that could ferment the leaves. Next, the leaves are rolled to bring out the juices. Then they are fired to dry the leaves. These two steps are repeated until the leaves are completely dry. One wrong movement in the process can result in the fermentation of the tea leaves. China, Taiwan and Japan were the only suppliers of green tea until the Indian estates began producing green tea to supply the demand for green tea. The many health benefits of green tea continue to increase every year from the studies that are completed on green tea. Green tea is reported to fight cancer, increase bone mineral densities, to be used against allergens, as a weight reducer, for arthritis, slowing down the aging process, and for high blood pressure. It is also reported to be high in vitamin C and zinc. |
